This is a wonderful piece. Having been in the mobile space and constantly facing the challenges you outline, I completely relate to what you are saying. App stores, though, don’t have the motivation to be fair to publishers. They only care that good apps are available in their ecosystem and little else. Everyone wants Facebook. So they will promote what people want. As long as users are happy with the ecosystem. The hoops that publishers have to jump through to get their submissions approved or apps featured are ludicrous. Web is definitely easier. Easier to iterate, test, market — the works.
